About Us
Breeding working-line German Shepherds since 2021
Kennel zu Trojas Ehren is a small-scale kennel owned by Jessica and Matt Leech in Buckhannon, West Virginia. We believe in breeding with a purpose. Our goals are to produce working/sport dogs with the correct temperament, health, and conformation to perform as German Shepherds should. We are active in Schutzhund (IGP), and we also obtain show ratings on our dogs through SV conformation shows.
Good Genetics And A Great Foundation
We use dogs with pedigrees full of proven, titled, and healthy genetics for our breeding program. In addition to good genetics, we give our litters the best start at life as we can. That begins with excellent care of the mother pre-pregnancy, during pregnancy, and post whelping. Good nutrition, mental stimulation, and exercise to keep our dogs in the healthiest state. When the puppies arrive, they live inside our home with the utmost attention and care. We do Early Neurological Stimulation and Early Scent Introduction with all the puppies. As they grow they are provided with many toys and enrichment activities. We take them for nature walks, car rides, and get them used to many noises including thunder, baby cries, machinery, fire works, etc. We are continuously researching to learn more to provide the best foundation for our puppies. We aim to send home confident, happy, healthy puppies!

We are located in Buckhannon, WV.
While we prefer that you come meet us and pick your puppy up in person, we understand that this isn’t always an option. If you are unable to come pick up your puppy we will work with you to ship your puppy via a puppy transporter. Please note that the buyer will be responsible for setting this up, all the transporting costs, the puppy must be paid for in full prior to leaving, and you waive the breeder of all responsibility with the risks of transport. Please remember puppies leaving at 8 weeks have only had 1 vaccine so they are not fully vaccinated yet. Puppies should not travel, or be around sick or contagious animals (sometimes not noticeably ill), and locations for potty breaks should be areas not used by other animals to be of less risk of contamination of contagious diseases.
All of our breeding dogs are health tested with passing results and certifications for hips, elbows, and free from DM prior to breeding. We do orthopedic X-rays of the hips and elbows through OFA, SV, or a FCI recognized organization. We do DNA genetic testing for a minimum of DM (degenerative myelopathy), but recently began using Embark which tests for many more genetic diseases including: Canine Leukocyte Adhesion Deficiency Type III, CLAD III (FERMT3, German Shepherd variant); DM, Factor VIII Deficiency, Hemophilia A (F8 Exon 1, German Shepherd variant 2); Factor VIII Hemophilia A(F8 Exon, German Shepherd variant 1); Hyperuricosuria and Hyperuricemia or Urolithiasis, HUU (SLC2A9); MDR1 Drug Sensativity(ABCB1), Mucopolysaccharidosis Type VII, Sly Syndrom, MPS VII (GUSB Exon 3, German Shepherd variant); Achromatopsia (CNGA3 Exon 7, German Shepherd variant); Platelet Factor X Receptor Deficiency, Scott Syndrome (TMEM16F); Renal Cystadenocarcinima and Nodular Dermatofibrosis, RCND (FLCN Exon 7); and X-linked Ectodermal Dysplasia, Anhidrotic Ectodermal Dysplasia, XED (EDA Intron 8).
Yes! We deworm and vaccinate puppies as recommended by our vet at appropriate times. Puppies will leave us with a minimum of 1 puppy vaccine depending on the age they are when sold. (No puppies leave until 8 weeks old or older.) Our puppies are also vet checked prior to leaving.
Yes! Puppies will be microchipped prior to leaving.
Please contact us for price inquires. Price is specific to each breeding. We reserve the right to change our prices at any time. We also reserve the right to refuse to sell to anyone. Also, please note that we thoroughly screen buyers prior to agreement to place puppy in new home. Not everyone willing to purchase will be a good fit for our puppies. Please reach out to us to discuss plans for new puppy and to fill out a puppy application to be considered.
All puppies are sold on AKC limited registration (no breeding rights.) However, if you show, title, and do age appropiate health checks then we will
consider lifting from limited registration to full registration (breeding rights). Please reach out with any questions regarding this. We love getting to know your plans for our puppies!
